Sony appears to be taking a step further in developing its next flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 IX. According to information from the Japanese website S-Max, three new model numbers have been discovered in the GSMA IMEI database, indicating that this successor is currently under development.

The recorded product codes include XQ-HH44 (exclusive to the Japanese market, supporting eSIM), XQ-HH54 (for Europe), and XQ-HH74 (for other markets, including China). According to Sony's convention, the "H" at the beginning of the product code indicates the year of manufacture as 2027, while the "4" at the end confirms eSIM support.
The accompanying internal names are PM-1545-BV, PM-1540-BV, and PM-1541-BV. Notably, the Japanese version is also said to be compatible with 3GPP satellite communication standards.
The Walkman Blog also notes that the Xperia 1 VIII appeared in the database in November 2025, while the Xperia 1 VII was recorded in October 2024. Although the early listing of the Xperia 1 IX doesn't necessarily mean it will launch sooner, it suggests Sony is actively developing the next generation of this product line.
